Turner devised a number of new chemical techniques that proved very useful in the pottery manufacture. These included varnishes, bronze powders, and a variety of brilliant colouring agents. 1762 to 1765 - lectured on chemistry and pneumatics at Warrington Academy. At Liverpool Academy of Arts, Turner delivered anatomy lectures.
