The name given to the railway company after the Canadian Government took control of the Canadian Northern Railway and other smaller companies. The take over took place in 1916 though the name was not officially given by the Privy Council until 1918. Line now runs across Canada from Prince Rupert to Halifax and down as far as New Orleans in America.
