Subsiduary of Technicolor Inc., now a division of Technicolor SA; trademark for a series of color film processes; founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1914 (incorporated in 1915) by Herbert Kalmus, Daniel Frost Comstock, and W Burton Wescott; Technicolor was the second major colour film process, after Britain's Kinemacolor, and the most widely used color motion picture process in Hollywood from 1922 to 1952; remains a successful film processing firm and has became involved in video and audio duplication (CD, VHS and DVD manufacturing) and digital video processes.
