In 1938, Riken Kankōshi itself became Riken Kōgaku Kōgyō K.K. In 1942, the two companies Riken Kōgaku Kōgyō and Asahi Musen left the Riken Foundation which was the last link remaining between the Riken Institute and its offshoot companies. Riken Optical Industries finally became Ricoh in 1963.
