Born Isle of Man, moved to London 1964 working as assistant to advertising photographer Adrian Flowers; freelance in 1969; began photographing around north and Isle of Man in 1970s; 1970s he became the founder, exhibition curator, and advisor at the Side Gallery, Newcastle, and worked as its director from 1977 to 1979.
