Active from mid-1920s to c 1951; based at 2 Harrow Road, London; succeded by the Jano Camera Company, active from c 1951. M Janovitch & Co. was established in London around 1929. They were specialists in 'while-u-wait' cameras and Ferrotype cameras and materials. Their most popular camera was the Jano Postcard, a camera designed to take a card negative which was then developed and placed in a hinged holder to be swung up in front of the lens where it was rephotographed to produce a positive. From 1950, an improved model for 'positive' cards needed only one exposure to produce the finished print. The company was last heard of in the late 1950s, by which time it was calling itself Jano Camera Co.
