1817 - became a licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries. 1818 - granted membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. 1835 - set up the Benevolent Dispensary for the Relief of the Poor afflicted with Fistula, Piles and Other Diseases of the Rectum. 1854 - after moving the dispensary became St Mark's Hospital. 1857 - retired.
