1937 - launched as one of the first steam warships. She was designed by Sir William Symonds and was the first vessel to be fitted with direct-acting engines by Seaward and Co. 1840 - went into action in the bombardment of Acre. 1843 - part of the Royal Navy squadron stationed in the River Plate during the Uruguayan Civil War. 1858 - assisted in the laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable by taking soundings. 1863 - despatched to Madagascar to keep the peace on the death of King Radama II. 1834 - sold to Charlton for breaking up.
