1983 - telecommunications company founded in Atlanta, Georgia. It was one of the seven original Regional Bell Operating Companies formed when the U.S. Department of Justice forced the American Telephone & Telegraph Company to divest itself of its regional telephone companies. 2006 - merged with AT&T Inc and became known as AT&T South.
