1789 - moved to London where he was apprenticed to the engraver John Jones for seven years. 1796 - began to publish his own prints. 1800 - hired James Easling as his apprentice. 1812 - was appointed engraver-in-ordinary to the king. 1828 - elected associate engraver at the Royal Academy.
