1884 - Ransomes, Head and Jefferies changed its name to Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies Ltd. 1888 - Issued catalogue of various agricultural machinery, in addition to portable, stationary and traction engines, for which they are also week known. 1903 - developed a prototype tractor with a 20 HP engine and a three-ratio gearbox. 1919 - an association was made with Ruston and Hornsby. 1936 - the MG2 tractor was introduced. 1956 - sold the steam engine part of the business to Robey and Co. 1989 - the agricultural implement business was sold to Electrolux. 1998 - independent existence ended following a take over offer from Textron Inc, USA.
