1896 - launched from Thames Ironworks, Blackwall, London, England. It was the first battleship built for the Imperial Japanese Navy.

1904-1905 - saw action in the Russo-Japanese War.

1922 - disarmed and stricken under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.

1948 - broken up for scrap at Uraga Dock Company.
