1818 - entered the Royal Academy Schools. 1825 - commissioned by Charles Knight to produce twelve illustrations to short passages from Shakespeare's The Tempest. 1832 - developed his career as an illustrator, taking such work as Elliott's Portraits of Painters. 1836 - provided twelve illustrations for Tales of a Rambler, written by his brother Angiolo Robson Selous. 1835 - moved into Keats's former home in Wentworth Place, Hampstead, and adopted Selous as his surname. 1844 - commissioned to produce a fresco of King Alfred Submitting his Code of Law for the Law Society on Chancery Lane.
