David MacBrayne Unknown - 1973

David MacBrayne was the name given to the steamer firm David Hutcheson & Co in the 1870s when Hutchenson retired and left the company in the sole control of David MacBrayne. After WW1 the company was running a reduced fleet and lost the mail contract it relied upon; 1928 - rescued by LMS Railway and Coast Lines Ltd to form David MacBrayne Ltd.; 1948 - nationalised at the same time as the railways; 1973 - merged with the Caledonian steam packet to become Caledoniain MacBrayne colloquially known as Cal Mac; 119 Hope Street, Glasgow
