The company Scophony Limited was established by entrepreneur Solomon Sagall in the early 1930s to exploit the patents of inventor G.W. Walton. Initially the company's main investors were Ferranti in 1932 but replaced in 1935 by EKCO. Famous for their sophisticated mechanical television system. Based at Thornwood Lodge, Campden Hill, London N.W.8. In 1949 became Scophony-Baird Ltd. of Lancelot Road, Wembley, Middlesex.
