1819-1825 - captain of the port at Malta. 1821 - build an experimental yacht. 1825 - was promoted to commander. 1827 - promoted to captain of the royal yacht. 1831 - designed the Vernon. 1832 - appointed surveyor of the navy. 1835 - elected FRS. 1836 - knighted. 1847 - forced to take retirement. 1848 - received a civil CB. 1854 - became a retired rear-admiral.
