1859 - patented various designs for propeller improvements and the construction of ships. 1860 - patented a propeller having both variable chordal pitch (camber) and variable radial pitch. 1865 - designed a four blade propeller for the SS Periere. 1881 - filed a patent in the US (2498) for improvements in the shaping and constructing of screw-propellers.
