Incorporative name of what became the Neath and Brecon Railway, though the original plan was to open up the area between Neath and Onllwyn, ten miles to the north west. However, before this initial line opened, on 2 October 1864, the company changed its name to suit fir with its ambition to become the through route between Swansea and the Midlands.
