Fate-Bene-Fratelli means Do-Good Brothers and is the Italian branch of the St John of God brotherhood which started in Spain. There are a number of Fate-Bene-Fratelli Hospitals in Italy, most notably Rome and Tiberina Island (which claims to be the oldest hospital in the world). In Venice, the Hospital of San Servolo was a mental institution for men, started by Napoleon in 1797 and run by the Fate-Bene-Fratelli brotherhood.
