Antiference "Antex" Band I (Channel 5) television aerial, "X" type, on mounting pole, manufactured by Antiference Limited, probably Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, 1949-1985

The "X" type aerial was introduced in 1949, initially made at the original Antiference factory in Camden Town, London NW1 from 1949 to 1952 when production moved to Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. The aerial was the first of the X shaped aerials which are still popular in the early twenty-first century and can be seen on millions of roof tops across the UK.
