Artificial mercury horizon in fitted wooden case, made by John Dennett Potter, 31 Poultry, City of London, England 1860-1870. Consists of rectangular cast iron trough with a brass, roof-shaped cover with side glazing and cylindrical steel storage jar with threaded stopper and spout. Marked with property mark (broad arrow) of the Hydrographic Office of the British Admiralty.
