A photograph of a mill worker eating his lunch, taken by Bishop Marshall for the Daily Herald newspaper on 21 January, 1940.
The photograph shows a barefoot mill worker sitting on the floor, resting against a loom as he drinks from a large mug. His lunch is wrapped in paper beside him. This photograph is one of a series taken to illustrate a Daily Herald feature story by Dudley Barker on workers in wartime.
