72 optical fibre cable used for television transmission in the exchange, with low smoke, zero halogen materials for fire safety, manufactured by Prysmian Group, British, 2014.

Fibreoptic cables were developed in the 1970s, and were found particularly useful for high-speed internet connections. The cables quickly and efficiently carry more data than the copper cables that preceded them. This particular example is from a sample of cable designed for use in digital television transmission.
