Adam Gowans Whyte was born in Scotland in 1875. He studied at Allan Glen's School, Glasgow, before attending the University of Glasgow in 1895. In 1899, he founded the Rationalist Press Association. Whyte was also Editor in Chief of various electrical publications published by Electric Press Ltd. His works include 'Forty Years of Electrical Progress', 'The Electrical Industry', Electricity in Locomotion', and 'The All-Electric Age'.
