The Central Youth Employment Executive were a unique form of co-operation between local government departments. Chaired by an assistant secretary of the Ministry of Labour, the executive included four principals; one from the Scottish Office, one from the Ministry of Education and two from the Ministry of Labour. The executive had a locally based representative in each region.

Jim Galbraith was cahir of the Central Youth Employment Executive from 1964-1967.
