1892 - Chief Engineer and Manager of Great Western Railway of Brazil. Then joined the Entre Rios Railway in Argentina and went on to the Buenos Aires and Rosario Railway. 1902 - Returned to England becoming General Manager of the Great Northern Railway (GNR). Until 1945 - Director of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER).
