c. 1615 - set up studio in Antwerp and started working with Rubens. 1618 - became master of the Guild of St Luke. 1620 - visited England. 1621 - visited Italy. 1624 - drew a witch led from an auto-da-fé in Palermo. 1627 - returned to Antwerp. 1631 - visited court of Frederik Hendrik, prince of Orange, at the Hague. 1632 - returned to London and was knighted at St James's Palace.
