1836 - apprenticed to Samuel Luscombe of Exeter. 1841 - admitted a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and served as assistant surgeon to the 44th regiment, then serving in India. 1846 - transferred to the army medical staff at Dublin. 1874-5 - served as president of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
